I’ve only heard the first 3.5 tracks and I’m already hooked. And heart broken. And everything else you expect to feel from a Xiu Xiu album. Including strangely elated.
It features a GREAT cover of ‘Under Pressure’ (I’m a couple more tracks through now, inserting this comment after completing the remainder of this post.)
If you’re further interested, beyond the download above, The Air Force truly is a real musical force (and a personal favourite), but I guess Fabulous Muscles is still the ultimate (critical) contender. It’s the album that got me into them, and Crank Heart is still one of the best tracks I’ve heard in years.
In fact, Crank Heart is a great introduction to the band, so watch it live and see if you aren’t hooked, or at least somewhat(!) impressed, too:
